petro cow project
The PCP project needs Laptops

The group is currently searching for cheap (or free!) laptops for use in fabricating ‘smart' crates. If you can help, use the form below to drop us a line. A request is currently being made to all staff and students at the University of Sydney for second hand laptops, regardless of age, condition or brand.

Laptops are the "bread and butter" of our installation. They will allow information collected from sensors in the milk crates to be sent wirelessly between where it is collected and then where it is outputted i.e. as a visualisation projected onto the exhibition space and as a blog on the internet. The very nature of a wireless installation dictates an increased flexibility to travel to and exhibit at a variety of locations. This broadens the scope of people and places it can interact with.

In the spirit of students pooling their resources for innovative and creative enterprises, we ask for the support of other like minded students and academics to realise our vision for this interactive installation.

It is the support from generously minded individuals within the Sydney University Community which will be integral in helping realise this exciting project.

Minimum laptop requirements:

Processor: 200MHz or greater
USB ports: At least one
PCMCIA slots: At least one

Batteries, power supplies, and other laptop accessories would also be greatly appreciated.

The email form below will contact all members of the petro-cow project.
